# ORBIT — The Research Publishing Pipeline # Also known as: ORBIT Research · ORBIT Research by Aditya Singh · ORBIT by Aditya Singh > Last updated: 2026-09-04 ## Synopsis ORBIT (Optimized Research Blueprint and Instant Templating) is a research publishing pipeline — four stages, ten tools that share one credit pool. Discover, Check, Submit, Present: from the first paper you read to the last slide you present. Founded, built and maintained by Aditya Singh, an independent researcher and software engineer based in India — a solo project with no team, no co-founder and no investors. Contact adisingh.cs@gmail.com. Hosted at https://orbit-research.app. Four tools are free at every use. Six cost credits (1–3). One pool of 5 free credits per calendar month (resets the 1st, does not carry over) covers any paid step; additional credits cost INR 500 each and never expire. Individuals pay by UPI. Institutions (labs, departments, universities) buy a shared credit pool: INR 200 once per member seat plus INR 500 per credit as the list rate, invoiced and paid by NEFT/RTGS, with departments, per-member spending caps and optional bring-your-own-key model access. An institution ledger records who spent what on which tool and has no column that could hold a filename or a manuscript. ## The pipeline — four stages, ten tools ### Discover **Literature Discovery** (`/literature-discovery`) — Search ~250M papers by topic from open scholarly indexes via their APIs (no crawling). Every result says whether a legal free copy exists and links to it. Search and export (RIS, BibTeX, CSV, Markdown) are free and cost no credit. Optional: one extra credit ranks results against your own abstract — relevance score per paper with a reason, gap analysis, and a cited related-work draft (every sentence must cite a shown paper; sentences that cite nothing are deleted and you are told how many). **Dataset Discovery** (`/dataset-discovery`) — Search ~73M research datasets across Zenodo, figshare, Dryad, PANGAEA, Dataverse and other DOI-minting repositories. Every result states its reuse licence — openly licensed, licence restricted, or licence not stated (common, and not permission) — collapses versioned DOIs into one row, and marks sparse records. Completely free at every point; no credit, no paid tier. ### Check **Paper Readiness Check** (`/readiness-check`) — Tests a finished .docx against a journal's submission guidelines before you submit. 41+ checks across 7 categories: formatting, structure, content, referencing, figures & tables, language, metadata. Three verdicts: pass, fail, unknown (unstated rule excluded from score). Manuscript parsed in the browser — never uploaded, never stored; only score and journal name recorded. 11 journal profiles (8 transcribed by hand from the publisher's own page, 3 unverified and labelled as such). Any other journal via pasted author-guidelines URL. 1 credit against a style system, 2 against a named journal. A scheduled job hash-compares guidelines pages daily and flags changes for human review; no automatic rewrite. **Reference Check** (`/reference-check`) — Resolves every reference against Crossref and reports what disagrees: retractions (read from the Crossref update record), entries that no longer resolve, and per-field metadata mismatches (author, year, journal, volume, pages, DOI) with the published record shown beside what you wrote. In manuscript mode it also reads the body text, so it names citations with no reference entry and entries the manuscript never cites — the check a list-only tool cannot perform. Checks the list against the target journal's own referencing rules, sharing one rule profile with the readiness check. Not a hallucination detector: unresolvable entries are flagged and left exactly as written, never invented or corrected on a guess. Accepts .docx or a pasted list, up to 300 references per run; PDF is not supported. 1 credit for a list, 2 for a full manuscript audit. Restyling the corrected list into IEEE, ACM, Elsevier, Springer, APA, MLA or Chicago and downloading the .docx are both free. A check that finds nothing is free, and re-running the same list the same day returns the original receipt rather than charging twice. ### Submit **Format Paper** (`/templates`) — Takes a finished .docx and restyles it to a journal template. In-place editing of document.xml/styles.xml — not extraction and rebuild — so figures, tables, equations, footnotes and inline formatting survive. 7 built-in templates: IEEE, ACM, Elsevier, Springer LNCS, APA 7th, MLA 9th, Chicago. Custom .docx template upload (read from the file, report what could not be read). Harvard, ACS and Nature are listed as not yet built, with the reason for each. Deterministic, no AI. 1 credit (built-in) / 2 credits (custom). File processed in memory, never written to disk. **Figure Builder** (`/figure-builder`) — Turns a data table into a publication figure. Upload CSV, TSV or XLSX; the columns are typed in the browser and only the figure types that shape of data can support are offered — 45 types across comparison, distribution, relationship, trend, composition, matrix, model-evaluation, clinical and flow families (including PRISMA and CONSORT). Statistics (quartiles, histogram bins, regression lines, confidence bands) are computed from your values with published methods and refused where the data cannot support them; error bars are drawn only from a column you identify, never inferred. Export SVG, PNG at 300/600/1200 DPI, or true vector PDF (text stays text). No JPEG, TIFF or EPS — JPEG is lossy and wrong for line art, and a vector PDF satisfies TIFF/EPS requirements at almost every publisher. Cell values never leave the browser: only the schema (column names, inferred types, row count) crosses the network. 1 credit per table, charged at analysis; every figure type and every export after that is free. Nothing is charged when no figure type fits. **Journal Suggestion** (`/journal-suggestion`) — Paste your abstract. Compared against the published output of ~98,000 journals to suggest venues that actually publish your subject, with the real cost to publish (stated amount / stated zero / not published), open-access status, independent listings (DOAJ, Leiden core), and publication volume. Filtered to journals that have actually published recently. No impact factor or Q1–Q4 (licensed Scopus/Clarivate data, deliberately not republished). Free; abstract hashed and not stored. **Cover Letter** (`/cover-letter`) — Drafts the submission cover letter from title and abstract only — manuscript never read, journal not looked up. Leaves marked blanks for names, affiliations, funders, grant numbers and anything it was not told, rather than inventing them. Copy or download .docx. Nothing pasted is stored; history records journal and date only. 1 credit — free credits cover it. **Conference Deadlines** (`/conference-deadlines`) — Upcoming CS & AI conference submission deadlines, rebuilt daily from two community lists (ccfddl/ccf-deadlines MIT, huggingface/ai-deadlines MIT) plus publishing news feeds. Every entry links to the conference's own page and says whether the date moved. Also surfaces ORBIT's own guideline-change observations. Free, no signup, no account. CS & AI only by source; no humanities or life-sciences conferences. ### Present **Paper to Slides** (`/paper-to-slides`) — Turns a finished research paper (.docx) into a slide deck (.pptx). Outline mode (1 credit, deterministic, every headline is a sentence from the paper — no model) and Narrated mode (3 credits, headlines rewritten and speaker notes drafted by a model — openly generative). Below half narrated, charged as 1 credit. Choose Lightning (5), Conference (10), Seminar (15) or Defence (25) slides. The file is parsed in memory and streamed back; no document, deck or plan stored. The honesty framing: every other ORBIT tool refuses to invent; a deck cannot promise that when compressing twenty pages into fifteen slides, so the exception is named and the two modes let the author choose which promise they want. ## Pricing — one pool Every tool that costs draws from the same credits. 5 free credits/month, then INR 500 per credit (flat, no volume discount). Paid credits never expire. UPI payment; credits added after WhatsApp verification (+91 9173400522). Four tools free, forever: Literature Discovery search, Dataset Discovery, Journal Suggestion, Conference Deadlines. As of 2026-08-22 every public route is prerendered with BOTH its own head metadata (title, description, canonical, Open Graph) and its own body copy — headings, paragraphs, lists and the full FAQ — inside `
`. Before that date every route returned the same 262 characters of body text. The prerendered copy is generated from the same modules the visible pages render from, so it cannot state a count or price the product does not. This file and /ai.md are the fastest complete description of the product: 20 public routes in the sitemap (including /tools, /paper-to-slides, /institutions), eight tools across four pipeline stages, four free and four 1–3 credits.
