Use ORBIT with your AI assistant

One free skill file teaches Claude, Codex or any assistant how to use ORBIT well: the right tool for each step, the filters that matter, what each run costs, and how to check the result. It works in your own browser, with your account, and asks you before it spends a credit.

Before you start

• Let your assistant open and use tabs in your browser (for example Claude in Chrome, or your assistant's own browser).
• Sign in to ORBIT yourself, in that browser, before you ask it to work.

Install it in One command

• Run this in a terminal. It asks which assistants to add ORBIT to (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and many more) and whether for this project or everywhere.
• It needs Node.js. Then start a new session and ask for ORBIT by name.
• Any computer: npx skills add https://orbit-research.app/orbit-skill.md

Install it in Claude app

• Download orbit-skill.zip below.
• In Claude's settings, open Skills and upload the zip.
• Turn on Claude in Chrome so Claude can use ORBIT in your browser.

• No Node.js? Save the file yourself. For Claude Code, one of these puts it where Claude Code looks for skills.
• For Codex, unzip orbit-skill.zip into your Codex skills folder (~/.codex/skills by default; newer versions also read ~/.agents/skills), so the file sits at orbit/SKILL.md.

What is the ORBIT skill?

A plain-text file that an AI assistant reads to learn how to use ORBIT: which tool to use for each step of a paper, the filters and modes that matter, what each run costs, when to ask you first, and how to check what comes back. Claude, Codex, Cursor and other assistants that support skills load it automatically; anything else can read it pasted in.

Does it cost anything?

The skill is free. Using ORBIT through it costs exactly what using ORBIT yourself costs: many tools are free, and the rest use the same credits, including your 5 free credits each month. Your assistant tells you the cost and asks before any run that spends one.

What does my assistant need?

Permission to open and use tabs in your browser, for example Claude in Chrome, and you signed in to ORBIT in that browser. It never signs in for you, never sees a password, and never handles payment. Buying credits stays your decision and your action.

Is it safe to install?

Read it first: it is plain text with no code to run, no hidden characters, nothing encoded, and no links outside orbit-research.app. The SHA-256 shown on this page is calculated in your browser from the file we serve, so you can compare it with the copy you install.

Can my assistant do anything I could not?

No. It uses ORBIT's ordinary pages in your own signed-in browser, with the same limits and prices as you. Our Terms allow that, and do not allow any other automated access, such as calling ORBIT's internal endpoints directly.

How do I update it?

Run the same install again, or download the file again. The version and date at the top of the skill say which one you have.

What if ORBIT gets something wrong?

The skill asks your assistant to check the mistake, write it up and show it to you. If you choose to send it through the contact page, it reaches the person who fixes it. Genuine, verified reports and useful feedback may earn free credits, at our discretion.
